Hi everyone.
I'm in need of some help or advice.
I don't know if anyone can help with this. But I thought there is no harm in asking.
A few weeks ago I applied for my grandads army record's. I sent a email to the army record's department in Scotland about the form I had to fill in. Because I was confused on which parts even though I read it over afew times.
I also received a email from the army record's department in Scotland. Saying that they have a A.E Jones dob 27/9/14. On there file's . But cant be 100 % sure if it is my until grandfather until they call up the file's.
Apparently I'm classed as the living next of kin because he's my grandad .
I have sent 2 emails to them asking about my grandads army record's. Just to see when I will recieve them .and explained about our post man usually post's letters in the wrong doors..
I haven't had any replys back from them.
So I thought I'd ask if anyone can help me on this?
Because it is a lot of money for me especially when it was my birthday money.
I don't mind spending money on something I want. I only hope that the one they have on file is my grandad.
If it isn't I have lost my money. Even though they said they wouldn't except any payments until they have the correct one .
Which is confusing because on the form it says if unsuccessful there don't refund money.
Please can anyone help me with this?
Thank you again for your time and help

Try the human contact, they are very helpful.
0345 600 9663 and ask specific questions:
Say you are enquiring about your application sent on (date,,,) for Grandfather's records
Have they got all the information they require.
Are they processing your application
When do they think you will get the records - it does take some time.
Much better than email

Hi .
Thank you for your help. I will definitely do that. And thank you for the phone number.
It really does help. Especially how you explained what to say.as I would have had difficulty in that part.
Thank you again for your help and advice.

Have they cashed your cheque yet.
I recently waited for records from Glasgow for several weeks, I was also having email contact with a member of their staff though she was not able to access the actual records but was asking for more information from me. Eventually they cashed my cheque and I received the records within a few days.

Hi rosie
I'm not sure if they have done anything with what I sent.
I was told to send either a cheque or postal order. So I sent a postal order. And I was told to have it made out to them. The post office counter assistant. Printed the details on the postal order. It cost me £33 altogether. Without the price of the stamp. Which cost me another £1.10p. They kept my envelope with everything in. So it can be sent from them. I asked when would they receive my documents. The assistant said tomorrow.
What I don't understand is why I'm not having any replys back from them.
I have been told by my auntie. It could take up to 4 weeks before I recieve them.
What I'm worried about is. What if they have the wrong person on there file's. And I end up loosing my money
I have hopefully sent you a screen shot of what I received from them by email a few months ago.
I hope you get it?
It sounds like they have the correct one.
I'm going to phone them on Monday. See what they say.
Anyway thank you rosie.

If you only applied for the records in November then they could be a while yet. Some have been known to take months to arrive it is certainly unusual for them to arrive as quickly as 4 weeks unless the person is requesting their own records.
I applied for some records at the beginning of July and they were sent to me on 10th September, so just over 2 months. I am afraid you will have to be patient

As Rosie says, we do just have to be a little patient and especially at this time of year with Christmas coming up there tends to be a lot of folk using up their holiday entitlements.
