I’m a tad confused.  :(

Looking at the headstone photo, it appears that Elsie pre-deceased John.

There is this funeral notice, 2nd column:

http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article115993969

1937 C1758 Elsie Thomas parents Rees Evans and Elizabeth Worthing

In the given notice for John it mentions his wife. So he re-married, or have I misread something.

Now it would appear that there are children to two families above. The 1891 census helps to sort it out:

Where have you seen the middle name used?

It’s not on births of children, or death of a son.

1982 8852 Evan Walter Thomas parents John Thomas and Elsie Evans

It is possible that a re-marriage is not yet displaying on the Qld BDM online index ... 75 year restrictions apply in Qld for marriages ...

The 1952 Funeral notice cited above mentions the address Marvin Street.

This therefore would seem to be the notice of grant of probate
“Probate was also granted in the estate of John Thomas coach and body builder , Marvin St Ipswich.
Realty 8853 pounds, personalty 5404 pounds"

Hi there,

Yes,  he may well have re-married in the 1940s, or even shortly before his death in 1952 ...  and if he married in Queensland, you may have difficulty finding the index reference as it may well be within the restricted access period ...

May I ask if you have considered Jamjar's question ...

RED POST ... well found Sue  :)

If the information I have found so far is on the right track, I think the second wife may have died in 1997 at Chapel Hill, Brisbane.

I am not sufficiently confident to print her name however.

She was at Marvin Street to 1972 according to the electoral roll for the Ipswich area.

Ok, so how have you connected this John to the one who is buried in Ipswich, and to your family history?

Added: Were did you get the arrival information and how old was he at that time?
