Title: Who occupied a Pitsmoor. Sheffield address in 1920?
Post by: dorset_nomad on Tuesday 11 December 18 20:37 GMT (UK)
I have an Ellen Best (41) and Son Alec (10) arriving Liverpool UK on the 2nd May 1920. They had a destination address of 137 Fox Street, Pitsmoor Sheffield. Can anybody shed light in who was occupying that address? If not how to go about it.

TIA Del

Thanks for the link. An interesting site yet the census for 1920 is not due release until 2020 and the message forum does not work. Back to the drawing board!

Sheffield Daily Telegraph 1 Jan 1921 has a list of donations to the Sheffield Royal Infirmary received in the 3 months ended 31 Dec 1920.   Includes "Mrs. Moore, 137 Fox Street, Pitsmoor 1£ 0s 0d."

Additionally...  Whites Directory of Sheffield 1919-20 lists a Samuel Moore at 137 Fox St.  I suspect this may be the same Samuel Moore whose death is registered Sep Quarter 1920 Sheffield aged 68.  Treatment in the hospital would be a plausible reason for a subsequent donation.
