Title: Did Norman Southern have a family ?
Post by: dfk on Wednesday 12 December 18 08:07 GMT (UK)
Norman Southern was born in 1912, his father was Tom Southern and mother was Grace Ann Bond.
All are buried at Fleetwood cemetery, Norman died on the 28th March 1969.
Did he have a family of his own at all ?
I have looked and looked with no luck, he doesn't seem to be in the 1939 register tat i can find, was he in the armed forces perhaps ?
I need another set of eyes to take a look as i think i must be missing something.
David.

If you go to
www.lancashirebmd.org.uk
births
Southern
mothers maiden name Bond
1900 Agnes Baden Southern
1904 Lizzie
1906 Ann
1909 Alfred
all born Fleetwood  - but Norman isn't listed
can I ask if you have his Birth Certificate ?

For some reason, Norman appears to have been registered in Northwich RD in September quarter 1912 - mmn = Bond.

Elizabeth R B Rogerson married a Norman Southern in Fylde , 1941 - no children registered on freebmd -
this was the only Marriage in the Fleetwood area - if that is what you were looking for ... :)

The Sheffield marriage might be the Norman Southern registered in Ecclesall Bierlow in 1912 - mmn = Goodall.

Regards St Peters Church, yes it was the same church used for his siblings marriages, it does start to look like the Rogerson lady might have been Normans wife, but no children?, did they travel or live outside the UK ?

In 1939 Elizabeth Rogerson shown as married.

She appears to have been born in Scotland - Elizabeth Raynor Melvin born 1908 (25/5/1908) Old or West Kilpatrick.   Looks like she married a Joseph Rogerson (as plain Elizabeth) in Jun.1927 Fylde.  Does not look as if they had any children.   Then marries Norman Southern 1941 - after his death she remarries a Philip Hampton Dec.1971 Fylde then either another marriage (but can't find it) or she changed her surname as she dies as Elizabeth Rayner B. Hobbs b.25/5/1908, D. Aug.1989 Blackpool & Fylde.  Cannot find any Southern births mmn Melvin so looks like she had no children from 1st or 2nd. marriages.
