Title: Is there a Romany Gypsy saint?
Post by: prairiegypsy on Sunday 16 December 18 23:25 GMT (UK)
My father's family were Romany Gypsies living in England. There was a wooden carving of a saint hanging on the wall of his childhood home. My father couldn't remember much about it but he called it "Hojo." I'm wondering if he could have meant Hagio which is Greek for "saint, holy."

Has anyone ever heard of Hojo (not Howard Johnsons!) or know anything about a saint that was significant to Gypsies?

Saint Sara la Kali, yes. Also I think the Virgin Mary, & Saint Anne, Mary's mother.
