Title: Kenrick Family Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Post by: Leigh P on Wednesday 19 December 18 01:45 GMT (UK)
Good morning, I was wondering if this photo could be dated please? I think it was taken between 1910 and 1915.

Thanks,

LeighP

Hi Leigh...There are a lot of men present in the photo so I would go back a couple of years or so as many of them would have gone off to fight in WW1. maybe that's why it was taken. Lovely photo.

Thank you Treetotal for your reply, I tend to agree with you but with the latest perhaps Australian summer of 1914-15. It is a lovely photo - my husband's grandmother's family. She is back row far right.

What a great photo of the family assembled.

I do hope THEY ARE ALL NAMED!   ;)

Wiggy.     :)

Unfortunately Wiggy, we don't know who all those in the photo are - only about 12 are named which is such a pity as it would be wonderful to know who they all are.

Nor I Wiggy. Although I do have a copy of a photo taken at my paternal grandparents' 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1956 of all their family. I have named everyone in the photo on the back.

That is a start then!  'Good girl!'     ;) ;)

Are there people around who could help you name some of the other photo?
Nearly too late though isn't it - unless someone knows that is their mother as a child, and her father etc etc.

Can you identify them from position?

ie the matriarch seated in the middle is flanked by ( assumed) daughters. The other assumption is she is possibly a widow as her husband should/would be sitting next to her

Three men of middle age at the back. Brothers? Uncles? Then 1 older male to the left standing. I cant think of anybody but a friend or the black sheep brother.

I also wonder if the families are placed in tiers ie your husbands grandmother then below her a woman similar in looks.

Just all supposition. :)

Did you want to name the 12 you do have and let us have a look at trying for names or are you happy just for a date?

Added: Just wanted to say the person that draws the eye is the young lad in the front . Very charismatic . Aged 15-19?
