Only the Church of England uses the title of Vicar for parish clergy, as far as I know.

You'll find a bit about him here:  http://db.theclergydatabase.org.uk/jsp/search/index.jsp

There is a brief synopsis of his career in the Cambridge Alumni database on Ancestry.

I wonder if you might be able to find an obituary for him in an old newspaper?  Such an item may also provide a photo and a lot of information on him and his background.

I was researching a Vicar recently as part of the background of a WW1 soldier who had been killed.  The vicar was his Father.  I found Father's (vicar) photo in the Illustrated Chronicle 1912 as part of his very long and in-depth obituary.

I hope you have such luck with your Vicar, Xin

Yes, it's all a bit technical and I can't remember the details fully.  There's something about it here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicar_(Anglicanism)

I think a Rector may be an incumbent of a parish who receives tithes personally, whereas a vicar is an incumbent who doesn't receive tithes pesonally, but they go elsewhere(e.g.chapter house)

I need to meet this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Francis_Walker (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Francis_Walker). I've transcribed so many records which were written in his lovely handwriting (the parish records of Purleigh, Essex, where he was curate). I felt quite attached to him while I was transcribing. And shed a little tear when I transcribed his own burial.

I would like to meet the enumerator of the 1861 census for the section of St Pancras that is missing, which has my ancestors living in that district at the time. Also I would love to meet "W Daniell" the man who admitted my 4xgreat gran to Marylebone workhouse in December 1848.
