Does anyone have any information the birth or death of Ethel. She married William Henry Ledster in March 1919 in Swansea, but I can't find any record of her death, although William was down as married in the 1939 census. I'm also unable to find any record of her birth, or her parents. Any information would be appreciated.

Their marriage record should have information that could help such as her father's name or an address that may be useful. Also the witnesses could be relatives and give hints.
-
Did William remarry in Swansea in 1943? Where have you found him in 1939?
I can’t see any Ledster/Norman births in England & Wales.
-
William remarried in Swansea to Annie Williams (nee Davies) in Mar 1943, he had been lodging with her and her husband Henry Morton Stanley Williams. He was killed in El Alamein in Jan 1942. In the 1939 census he was living with Joseph and Elizabeth Thomas. She was his eldest sister.
-
Do you have the civil certificate from 1919 when he married Ethel?
as this is where you are more likely to find information on her

Where :-\ Could you please give details
The 1939 is not a census but a civilian register compiled for WW2 ;)

This is odd, as Annie Williams (later Ledster) appears already to be widowed by 1939.
-
Since the marriage was just after the war, I was wondering if you have considered that Ethel was previously married and was a war widow when she married William? I also think your next step is to obtain the 1919 marriage cert.

Yes, the 1939 "census" was the WW2 civil register.

From the electoral register, Henry MS Williams does not read as a householder, and is more likely to be Annie's son.

Many thanks for all the information you all submitted. Almost all of it I already had through FTM Ancestry hints. I'm always amazed how much information is out there on certain families, but on others there seems to be nothing. I tried looking for deaths of a Norman and tried to relate to a marriage, thinking that Ethel might have been a widow, but with no success. I now will have to get a marriage certificate to see if there are any clues there. So once again, many thanks for all your efforts.

If you had all this information about Annie, I wonder why you said she was née Davies and the widow of Henry M S Williams? It’s best to be as clear as possible about what you do know, otherwise people on here take time finding stuff unnecessarily.
-
I'm sorry if I put you to all that trouble, but I refer you to my original query. I was only making enquiries about Ethel Norman, she was the only person that I had no information on and I was hoping she may have been someone that had been researched.
-
Sometimes it helps us if a bit more information is given on the original post. :)
You also mentioned having her husband on the 1939 register the full details of that entry may have helped us - you are allowed to post them on here as you are requesting the information, anyone trying to help you can't give the information. I never did find him in 1939 so had no idea where he was living which may have helped me find Ethel

We will be interested in learning what the marriage cert says.

I have William Ledster living at 1 Penybanc Cottages, Swansea(Code X11C), Borough of Swansea, Reg. Dist. 594-2. The 1939 Reg. Ref. is RG101/72921.
Entry 192 has 1) Thomas, Joseph. Mar. 3 Dec 1872 (Public Works Labourer)
2)Thomas, Elizabeth. Mar. 17 Feb 1876.
4) Ledster, William. Mar. 12 May 1895 (Colliery Labourer)
This was at the bottom of the page, and it shows him as married. Elizabeth was the eldest sister of William. She was the daughter of John Augustine Ledster and Elizabeth Lewis. I'm not sure if Ethel was on the next page or not.
