Hello,
I've reached a bit of a dead end with research on my ancestor John Kenny - I've found out that he was a Private in the 81st Regiment as it is named on a birth registration for one of his children. I have found a few files which may pertain to him on Forces War Records but nothing on the National Archives website.
If anyone is able to point me in the right direction of where to look for service records, etc... that would be much appreciated.
John Kenny
Born approx 1842 Cork, Ireland
Died 14 Jan 1892 Cork, Ireland
Service Number (I think): 2614

Oh brilliant! I think that might be him - he’s the only John Kenny I can find in the 81st Regiment.

This might help you - but you would need to visit in person.

I was struggling a little with his birthplace but I now realise it is Gortnagoona.
