Title: Which church is 'Sunderland Church'
Post by: Whipby on Saturday 29 December 18 13:47 GMT (UK)
Hi all.

I have a marriage of two ancestors on 24 February 1862, but the only source I have is a newspaper announcement in the Newcastle Courant, which says the couple married in 'Sunderland Church'.

Can anyone tell me, please, which church this would be?  Would it be Holy Trinity church, which according to Genuki was the parish church of Sunderland?

Many thanks!

Yes, it is Holy Trinity, which was the parish church for Sunderland.
Sunderland Holy Trinity was created in 1719 from Bishopwearmouth St. Michael and All Angels.
