Title: Help with reading cause of death on 1887 death cert please
Post by: teach3r on Saturday 29 December 18 14:44 GMT (UK)
Good afternoon and thank you for any help that can be given.

I have attached an extract of the death cert for my wife's 3x Great Grandmother.  I would be grateful if someone could let me know what it says please.

Many thanks,

Nic

Thank you, Jen B - much appreciated!

Delving a little deeper. Senectus is "old age" and Gastritis is possibly a "stomach ulcer"?

Gastritis is, literally, inflammation of the stomach.
Not necessarily a stomach ulcer though may be a precursor to it.

Sometimes, gastritis can be brought on by over use of aspirin (ref. Bex powders which used to be the 'cure all' years ago, later found to cause gastritis)
