Does anyone know where Druinach is, or could it be a transcription error?
-
Hi
Using an address search, it suggests it's in Polbain (in the Coigach/Achiltibuie area). Not sure though. Have you tried stepping through next household, etc.?

I see that one of the households with Druinach as an address were Frasers. To my knowledge, the Frasers were tenants at the west end of the Polbain township.

I've just done that, but I'm still none the wiser :-\
The previous household is Drumruni.
The household after the one I was asking about is also Druinach, and the one after is Glasslich.
-
Drumrunie is where the single track road from Coigach/Achiltibuie meets the A835

It's Frasers that I'm looking at - and trying to find a link to my Mackenzies from Rireabhach.
It's just soooooooooo complicated ::) ::) ::)

Here's a map link to Drumrunie

Thanks for that. It's a wee bit far from my usual research area !!!

It might be worth scrolling down to the Census section on this link

I've just gone through the Polbain section and they're not there.
-
The valuation rolls have them in Auchendrean, Lochbroom in 1855.
-
I think Auchendrean is in Strathcanaird which is the narrow straight stretch on the A835, just to the south of Drumrunie.
-
Just wondering about this place - Drienach in Strathcanaird:

Have you seen the original rather than the transcription?
I'm thinking that the ie in Drienach might have been misread as a ui.
Here's an old map~

Added - Also a Lochan Deurach at bottom left of map

Fascinating read - although I still can't find what I'm looking for - but does it really matter ;) ;) ;)

I have found them on the 1851 census in Achindrean.

Yes, that's where I found them so I looked at the valuation rolls. As I said in my later posts, Auchendrean/Achindrean is in Strathcanaird (pronounced Strathcanyard) to the south of Drumrunie.
