Title: Isabella North, nee Neville, b. 1909 Liverpool
Post by: Rainbow Quartz on Monday 31 December 18 14:00 GMT (UK)
Hello,
I am working on filling a few gaps in my tree, and today I'm trying to find out what happened to Isabella North, nee Neville. She was the second wife of Edmund North. Edmund was born on 3 December 1899 in Warrington, parents Charles O North (1874-1950) and Esther Ditchfield (1877-1910), and is on the 1901 and 1911 Census in Warrington. I have a record of a marriage of Edmund North to Ellen Chambers, Q1 1928 in Liverpool and subsequent death of Ellen North Q4 1934. I have another marriage record of Edmund North to Isabella Neville, Q4 1940 in Liverpool. Edmund is on the 1939 Register as 'widowed' which substantiates these marriage records. I have a record of death of Edmund North Q3 1948 in Liverpool. I haven't found any records of children from either of these marriages, and also I seem to have hit a brick wall in finding out what happened to Isabella after Edmund died.  If there are no children, then this branch of my tree ends, but it would be good to have some closure on Isabella.
Thank you for reading this, and any suggestions, advice etc. will be gratefully received.

Oooh thanks Kay, I don't know how you all find these things out!
Interesting that she is married on the 1939, but didn't marry Edmund until 1940? There isn't a lot of time between the 1939 and the marriage in 1940 to have become widowed and met and married Edmund? Or maybe she was in fact a widow in 1939? Or divorced, although I think that this was still relatively uncommon? And it was wartime too. Obviously I have been looking at the wrong Isabella b. 1909!
More investigation needed I think!

I looked for Isabella North's  in Liverpool and when searching Isabella Newlle came up - pure luck!    ;)

I must admit I can't see a birth for her daughter Mary Ann listed in 1939 to help with Isabella's maiden name  :-\

There is a tree on Anc that lists first husband Samuel as emigrating to New York USA
Jul 1926  by getting job on board the CEDRIC as Greaser and then disappearing  leaving behind a wife and six children!!

Well, who'd have thought it! :o Could be true though - I've found six children:
Samuel M Q1 1914
Isabella Q1 1916
James H Q3 1918
John A Q1 1920
Mary A Q4 1921
Sarah Q4 1923
So, my ancestor Edmund North took on a wife with six kids!
I wonder how they were able to be married in 1940? I suppose after 14 years it would be possible, if Samuel had run off like that?

I've also found a child of Edmund and his first wife Ellen Chambers, Catherine b. Q1 1929, and a possible marriage Q2 1943 to Henry D Briscoe; and John H Briscoe b.Q4 1943 (hmmmm :o!) Well, I'm glad I decided to look at this, it's turned into quite an interesting search!
