Hi, can't make out the birthplace town/village/location & will be most grateful for someone who can read the name. Pls see attachment.

It could be Ferrintosh

I see the s-es in Ross look like cs.

PS - it's near Dingwall

Spot on Gadget. Ferintosh was an estate in the Black Isle near Conon Bridge in William's time. The distillery of the same name was burnt during Jacobite disturbances in 1689 but went on to become the first legal distillery in Scotland. Much later in the 20th century the good name of Ferintosh was taken by another distiller close to Dingwall. Interestingly, William's son John returned to the area of his father's origins after his own marriage. Thanks.

We've been there a few times when we lived on the west coast.
