Trying to trace information on Archibald Smith believed to have lived at 24 Ferrier Street Glasgow and have been a flower salesman. Killed in an accident about 1964-65. He also lived at Maryhill and Yoker at some time.

Have you obtained a copy of his death certificate which should give you his parents, marital status etc.
There is a death for an Archibald Smith in 1964 Glasgow (South) aged 68. It is available to download on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk ref 644/2 406 for a nominal fee.
It is easy to use. You just register and buy a block of credits - £7.50 for 30 - and each record costs 6 credits or £1.50.
Perhaps you could post a little more information on him which may help us.
Hope this is useful

Once you have a date, you could try checking the relevant Glasgow Herald for any potential item re his death:

The marriage certificate will also be available on SP.
Regarding the birth of Archibald Smith in Scotland. It sometimes happens that a person gives themselves a middle name later on in life which does not appear on the birth registration. I have found a few in my family including my great aunt who acquires a middle name on her marriage and death certificates.

My Grandfather, John Morgan Smith, had a brother Archibald Smith from Glasgow. I have Archibald's birthdate about 1839. Would this be the same one?

Not unless he lived to be 125 years old.
There are three births of John Morgan Smiths in the index to civil births at Scotland's People.
- Kemnay, 1873
- Kelvin, 1879
- Leith, 1896
I doubt if any of them could have had a brother born in 1839. A half-brother, possibly.
What do you know about your John Morgan Smith?

I apologize. Archibald was my grandfather's UNCLE, not brother. John Morgan Smith 1879-1967 is the son of Archibald's brother Thomas b. 1831.

So are you still looking for Archibald Smith b 1839?

Yes, that's the family. Thanks for this, more info than we had before.

So this is the family of Thomas Smith and Helen Morgan.
Looks as if Helen died in 1892 in Glasgow Kelvin, though her age is a bit at odds with her age in the 1881 census. If it is her, her death certificate should tell you whether or not Thomas died before her, which will then narrow down the search for his death. His death certificate should tell you the full names of both his parents including his mother's maiden surname. Then you can see if you can find his baptism, and those of any siblings including Archibald.
All this information is available at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk though there are quite a lot of people whose baptism records have not survived.
