HI. My Dad has tried before and he /I would love to find out more about his Mothers side of the family. If you can help us out, we would both be so happy.
So her name is Marie Thelma winter (was Govey) and she married George William Winter on 25th DEC 1934. Marie was born 20th Jan 1920 and died 10th march 1989. George was born 28th May 1911 and died 5th Aug 1985.
They both lived in Dagenham and Romford Essex for many years and had 2 children (Barry Winter and Brenda Winter).
We have traced back my Grandad's family but unable to do anything with my Grandma.

If your dates are right, Marie would have been married at age 14 - looks unlikely?

I see that Marie’s 1989 death registration (in Havering) gives her birthdate as 20 January 1912 :)

William Stephen Govey's death entry shows he was born 7 Aug 1887 and death registered December 1973 in registration district of Rochford Essex.

From a free search the 1939 register seems to show William S Govey born 1887 was living on his own.

An ancestry tree shows Florence Rebecca Hicks with a daughter by Henry Joseph Lifford.
This daughter was Doris Gladys Lifford and she was born in Hackney in 1924 and died in 2002.
It appears that William Stephen Govey and Florence Rebecca Hicks must have separated and she had a new partner?
In a free search of the 1939 register Henry J Lifford born 1886 seems to be with Florence R Lifford born 1888 and also Doris G Lifford born 1924.
Also seems to be with them is Lilian E Govey born 1917.
Lilian Govey's birth was mentioned earlier:

So Florence clearly separated from her husband at some point between 1917 and 1923 and started a new relationship with Henry Lifford with whom she had a daughter. She took her daughter Lilian Govey with her after the separation.

William Stephen Govey was one of the executors to the probate of Albert Arthur Walters of Cheam, Surrey in 1940. Doubt there will be more information in the will but could be worth looking at.
