Ann Coleman was born in West Derby, Lancashire on 22 April 1874 to Thomas James Coleman and Elizabeth Lewis. She married William James Feeney on 10 April 1894 in West Derby, Lancashire. William died in 4th quarter 1907 in West Derby, Lancashire.
William and Ann had the following children William, Margaret, Mary, Ellen, Patrick, Ann, Catherine and Anthony and whilst I have traced the descendants of Anthony (my relative) I have failed to find any reference (other than the children's births) after the marriage in 1894. Any information regarding Ann, other than the births, after the 1891 census and in particular after 1907 will be greatly appreciated.

FEENEY, WILLIAM JAMES 34
GRO Reference: 1907 D Quarter in WEST DERBY Volume 08B Page 288
Do you have the certificate as the GRO pages look more like 94 than 34 :-\

William was born in 1873 and died in 1907 making him circa 34. I can't find any ref to Ann after this date.

That means then that we are looking for these children with mother Ann after 1907
William Thomas 1894
Margaret 1896
Mary Ann 1897
Ellen 1899
Patrick 1902
Ann 1904
Catherine 1906
Anthony 1908
and possibly George Edward 1911-1912 and Lawrence 1914. We have to consider that if Ann had not remarried she could still have continued to register children as 'Feeney'

What information does the Marriage certificate give for this couple
-
Where are they in 1901?
-
Suspect I have tracked down one of he children
William Thomas Feeney
Age: 1
Burial 21 Aug 1895 Ford Cemetery, Liverpool
-
There’s a burial at Ford Cemetery for a Mary Ann Feeney, 2, of 9 Bk Lodwick St, 14 Apr 1899.
-
The marriage certificate says:
10 April 1894 - St Alexanders Bootle, West Derby, Lancashire, England
William Feeney - 21 Years - Bachelor - Fireman (merchant navy) - 7 Howe Street Bootle - Father Patrick Feeney Fireman (merchant navy)
Ann Coleman - 21 years - Spinster - 23 Lyons Street Bootle - Father Thomas Coleman Deceased (born in Irelands)n- Labourer
Witnesses ??? Hughes and Bridget ??
I have been unable to find any evidence of where Ann and the children were after 1894.
There is, however, a marriage registered between Ann Feeney and David Leonard 4th qtr 1915 West Derby 8B 1169 but as yet I don't know if this is her.

there is no death on FREEBMD for a William Feeney in 1907 of the right age. As he was in the merchant navy did he die at sea
there is a William Feeney as a crew member of the Empress of Britain in 1907 - right age
Name: William Feeney
Age: 34
Birth Year: abt 1873
Birth Place: Liverpool
Event Date: 6 Dec 1907
Port of Registry: Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Ship Name: Empress of Britain
Official Number: 120940
Reference Number: 387CRE/326
edit - apologies as Rosie pointed out the GRO death says age 34 - the Freebmd one is mistranscribed. The image says 34 correction sent to Freebmd & postem will be added
-
Apologies. Although the marriage certificate gives his name as William on the birth certificate of his son Anthony (my relative born 24 August 1908) it gives father William James Deceased and mother Ann Coleman. The registration of Williams death is mistranscribed on Freebmd and it should read:
Birth year 1873 - death 4th qtr 1907 West Derby 8B 288
William J Feeney burial 3rd January 1908 address 2 Molyneux Street.
I don't think he died at sea.

Yes x sorry. The suggestion that he may have died at sea was made before I realised the death age of 94 was wrong
-
I have submitted a correction to FreeBMD - as a transcriber we do endeavour to get things right, but not always possible. :)

I did too - see post #11 (I am also a transcriber)

Ah, well, two submissions are better than none. ;)

That's true BumbleB

All credit to freebmd transcribers one of those GRO pages does look like a 9 and not a 3. I looked at both available images and for the first time in a long while I did not report the error :)
