Title: Given up looking - Henry Robinson
Post by: Patches on Sunday 06 January 19 22:10 GMT (UK)
I'm trying to find Henry born 1891/2, his birth and parents, so this I know:

Henry age 25 married Ethel Preece 20 on 13 Feb 1917 As St Stephens Sunderland, his occupation was Clerk living at 2 Glass St, fathers name William Robinson, Electric-Craneman (not shown as deceased).  witnesses were Edward Robinson and Edith Preece.

Henry died age 34 on 21 Oct 1925 in the Royal Infirmary Sunderland were he was a Male Nurse, his address was 3 Crow St as was his sister-in-law Dorothy Preece who was present at his death and registered his death, post mortem certified by V.P.Robinson BM. death from heart failure pneumococcal meningitis.

Henry was 'Clerk at Royal Infirmary' on his son Henry's birth cert who was born 8 July 1917 at 3 Crow St. (I know all about his son who married Nancy Willcocks)

He was born 1891/2 according to the above and Thats All Folks!

William, Edward, Henry, none of whom fit together on any records I've tried, not on censuses, tried BMD searches, have made lots of mini trees of possible families, is V.P. a family member???

I think I'm too muddled now with too many possibilities, my cat Henry is also muddled lol thinks I'm calling him all the time lol

If anyone comes across a likely lad to fit the above Henry please let me know :)

Dee

Although he married in Durham - is there any evidence to show he was born there?

You know sometimes Henry is Harry.  Who was Edward?  a brother?

There is a family with a William Robinson, father with Henry and an Edward as sons in the census but the father was a quarry worker but occupations do change.  This Henry was born Durham City 1891 or close and mother's maiden name Charlton.  There is a marriage of William Robinson and Mary Ann Charlton in Newcastle 1871.  This may have been a second marriage for William.  Previous wife named Mary Ann Thorp.

This is a possibility.

Thank you all.

I have no idea where he was born :( His wife Ethel Preece was born Bishopwearmouth, Durham
There appears to be lots of Henry Robinson :(
Edward could have been a brother or uncle :(
V.P. = Victor Penrose :) he sounds like he might be worth a look at

His first appearance in my records in his marriage cert putting him in 2 Glass St Sunderland https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/74200982/person/380139402795/facts

Ancestry Hint, as always so helpful has this, has a H as Grandson of Ellen and an E as her son, the initials are right lol but the parents are ?

There are a lot of possiblities and no way to know I am picking the right one :( and why not on 1911 census.

Thanks for all your thoughts

Dee

It would be good to find William in later censuses to check his occupation.  Many illegitimate children either made up a fathers name or used a relatives details so as to appear "respectable" when they married

Durham Records Online free search facility has a burial of a Leslie Robinson, age 10, 1922, abode 2 Glass Street, Sunderland. Same address as where Henry was living at his marriage in 1917. Might be a coincidence, common surname, or might be a relative.

There is a 1901 entry for a William Robertson b 1865 Sunderland engine fitter.  Image does say Robertson but in 2016 somebody has notified it as a transcription error saying the surname is Robinson

However - in a later census he is William Renwick Robinson so not our man!!

Nothing under Whittle

Hi River

Oh nice, marriage-locator is a new site to me :) can't wait to play on it, thanks

Dee

ps I'm making a separate robinson tree, for the Naughty Edwards family, I'm not sure if it's possible, there were so many Robinson's in that area.
