If anyone is looking in the British Army WWI Service records 1914-1920 dataset for short service attestation papers for Ernest George Bartholomew from Peckham, regimental number 509057, and not finding them on Ancestry, some of them at least are in the middle of a batch for William Frederick Witherington, regimental number 509054. Ernest seems to have enlisted in the Royal Engineers on 23rd July 1917.
I've not told Ancestry because it would probably be one of the rare instances where they actually respond to feedback, and rather than correctly and additionally identifying Ernest I have visions of them removing my William from the index!
So if you're looking for Ernest George Bartholomew, search for William Frederick Witherington born 1882. Simples ;)
