Title: 1880 to 1890 Baptist / Electoral Registars .... Can anyone help?
Post by: Brickwall Demolisher on Tuesday 08 January 19 16:12 GMT (UK)
My G / Grandfather ....... We cannot find on the 1881 Census.
We have him at home with family on 1861 aged 5 and 1871 aged 15.

My G / Grandfather ALFRED WENTZELL b 1856 Wirral married CHARLOTTE WANNELL  1879 St.Saviour, Southwark, Surrey. Mar Qtr

Their first child MARY ANN was born Jun Qtr but dies Dec 1880.
The death certificate's address of death is 3, Chatham Street, Rodney Road, Walworth.(Reg.District St.Saviour, Sub District St.Peter,Walworth, Surrey

Unable to find ALFRED & CHARLOTTE on 1881 census

Between 1881 and 1891 they have four children,
The 1891 ALFRED /  CHARLOTTE are on the 1891 Census, Plus the children

HARRY b1882, Newhaven, Sussex, SARAH b1884, St.Olave, Southwark, ELIZABETH b1885 St.Olave, Southwark, FLORENCE b1889 St.Saviour, Southwark

Can anyone help  on finding ALFRED & CHARLOTTE on the 1881 Census. ??There's no more Census on ALFRED after the 1891 as he has gone to America.

This Wentzell family were in the Walworth area from about 1865.They lived there until the 1970's. Could a search for Baptist records on the children be made, the Electoral registrars, which may help finding something, Many Thanks

I have just spent time searching the 1881 census to find that you’ve changed the subject of the look up request from the 1881 census to ‘baptist and electoral registers!

The children and women won't be on any Electoral Roll - as they weren't eligible to vote.

London Electoral Rolls are available on Ancestry - searchable by name. Have you looked there?

I have tried to look back over your various threads for confirmation of this information which you posted but can’t spot it. Apologies if you already have this. You haven’t given a date for Alfred’s  departure.

Can anyone help  on finding ALFRED & CHARLOTTE on the 1881 Census. ??There's no more Census on ALFRED after the 1891 as he has gone to America.”

There are some newspaper snippets dated 1894 re Alfred Wendell and his ‘two wives’ and cruelty to a child.

There is a 1893 birth for William Charles Wendell mmn Wonnell.
The child dies 1895 and there is a brief Workhouse Admission record for him.

Many thanks peoples,
For your quick replies, very much appreciated. You have certainly given me  something to work with.As I have mentioned in some of my posts in the past, I am in post stroke recovery, have been now for near on 3 years. I have been researching my family's history just for the interest. My speed of doing things is by far not what I would like it to be. Anyone that I have confused by changing the heading of this request, My Apologies,
Regards JUST J

Just in case you haven’t seen these births

1891 Jessie May Wentzell mmn Wonnell, Greenwich

1892 Alice Maud Wentzell mmn Newson Camberwell

Newson is mentioned in the newspaper snippet as the 2nd ‘wife’.

Heywood,
Many thanks for the info. Yes, I do have the information of Alfred and his "second wife"details. I / We believe it's why he left England in 1893. Your other details are interesting as well.
