I have a brother and sister marrying a brother & sister in the Sleaford area of Lincolnshire.
According to the 1911 census, both couples lost several children -- can anyone help find the missing ones?
John Northing & Sarah Headland m April 1881 Sleaford
On 1911 census reported 9 children, 4 still living. I only have 8 can anyone find the 9th?

On 1911 census reported 13 children, 1 still living. I can only find 6 can anyone find another 7 ?
Apart from Susannah, I cannot find birth or death registrations for any of the children. The ones I have got from FreeReg died between 2 hours and 2 weeks of age

That is how I found John & Sarah Northing's children
Unfortunately, William & Sarah Headland do not seem to have registered the births or deaths of any of their children after the first one. Even after I found Parish Register entries, I could not find corresponding GRO entries

Just wondering, as there are baptisms of some of the children for both couples in the parish registers on findmypast but not all. whether either or both couples misunderstood the 'born alive' nature of the number of children?

Just for info MMN for her is down as Northern.
I haven't found any using the Headland/Northing combo :-\

Sorry, yes I should have said that I checked both Northing & Northern variations for both couples
Also without a specified Mother's maiden names in case of any other variations

Just checked my tree, I only have six children for John and Sarah.....and none for William and Sarah, so not much help I'm afraid....these children are cousins of my Grandmother, Hilda Maud Northing (1895-1971) she lived at Welby, Lincolnshire, and married Arthur Ayto.

Hilda Maud was my Grandfather's cousin -- Clarence Willie (1895 - 1973), son of Edward Northing & Betsy Ann Neal
I think that makes us 3rd cousins? We will have to swap notes -- I do not have a lot of info on your branch

...he was the brother of Edward (1864-1950).....Edward moved to Yorkshire I think ?

And yes, Edward & Betsy Ann moved to Bradford
My Grandfather moved first to Sheffield in the 1920's and then to Romiley, Cheshire in the 1930's -- and I am now in Derbyshire -- so quite a way from the Northing roots in Lincolnshire!
My mother got Clarence talking about his family and he said this about Hilda: "A fine girl, hard worker, farm servant, sensible attitude to life but always ready for a bit of fun. Tall and plain. "

Going back a generation, I have more missing children!
Thomas Northern/Northing m Susannah Pyzer in Great Ponton Linc in 1853
Susannah Northing nee Pyzer was 80 in 1911 and is recorded in the household of her married daughter. Despite being a widow, she also declares the number of children born to her marriage.
She says she has had 13 children, 7 still living and 6 died.
I only have 9 so am missing 4 children
As before, the different spellings of Northing / Northern / Northen and Pyzer / Pizer / Piser etc etc have complicated the search.
I have got:
Sarah 1855- 1927
Mary Ann / Marianne 1857-1887
Parker 1858 - 1859
John 1860 - 1941
William 1862 - 1932
Edward 1864 - 1950
Henry 1866 - 1947
Joseph 1869 - 1956
Elizabeth 1871 - 1950
All born Welby Lincs except for Mary Ann born Great Ponton
As these children have arrived at roughly 2 yearly intervals, there is not much scope for extras
Can anyone find any others?

Re your other post, I can't find any more children than you have......here's a photo that includes Sarah (known as Sally) and Edie Northing......Sally is extreme right on the front row, and Edie is right in the middle of the photo.....I can remember them both, from when we all lived at Welby

Yes, daughter's of John and Sarah Northing...both were married I think, but ended up as widows living together in an old cottage at Welby
...I remember visiting them on numerous occasions, back in the old days......I will P.M. you with my email address......
