Title: Just Curious.
Post by: minniehaha on Tuesday 15 January 19 04:23 GMT (UK)
This is not something I have previously come across.......

The copy of a will together with codicil being published [in 1885]. It does not appear to have been contested and even if this was the case, I would not have expected the will in its entirety to be published.

https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/TO18850502.2.64?query=last%20will%20and%20testament%20of&phrase=2&page=2&start_date=01-01-1839&end_date=31-12-1900&snippet=true&type=ARTICLE

I have all the information I need about this man and his family. Am just curious as to the reason for publication.

this man had 4 wills published. Although in his case there was a court case involved apparently

Yes I did come across those. I think the situation differs from the one I have shown.

Minniehaha - have a look at the whole page of the newspaper. The will is part of the "Wig and Gown" column.

Good spotting John. That explains a great deal. And well done Captain Stone!  ;D
