Hi everyone
I have a couple named Charles Edwin Webb and Alice May (unsure of maiden name) with several kids born in India.
All their kids were born in West Bengal/Jhansi area and Alice May died in 1934 and was buried on 12 Dec 1934 • Jhansi, Bengal, India.
I cannot find a marriage for Charles and Alice but I have seen a picture of one of the kids and she has a very Indian look so I'm guessing one of the parents was of Indian descent.
I believe Charles worked for the Great Indian Peninsular Railway.
Can anybody help me locate details on Charles and Alice please?
I don't have a death for Charles either.

You probably have this record already but just to give us an idea of birth years and age - this might help0 people searching...........
The India Death record tells us Alice May Webb was born 1884 - aged 50 years when she passed away

Yes this is my lot. All the children moved to the UK and married etc but it seems the parents did not.

Looks like another daughter Annie Dolly Webb married Cyril Leslie Hatfield 12 October 1931 Jhansi, Bengal, India.

Ahhh fantastic. That daughter's name is actually Winifred Helen Dorothy Webb and her husband is Cyril Hutfield. Probably one of the reasons I have not been able to find a marriage or birth for her is down to the name difference.

The marriage of Charles and Alice should be prior to the birth of the first daughter who seems to be Anna in 1907

I have searched for a marriage between a Charles Webb and Alice May but to no avail. I was hoping that if I could obtain a birth certificate for one of the children it would give me the maiden name.
Also details of Charles working in India or even a death but again to no avail.

Back in 2010 - someone suggested LDS have the baptism of Caroline Emily Webb which would be on microfilm and you could order a copy of the relevant entry from them for a couple of dollars. Much cheaper than a cert, which even if available, will only have the same info in any case................
Did you not try that avenue ?

The British Library India doesn't appear to have helped either - "quote - I had an email form the British library India stating they found the baptism record but it does not give mothers maiden name"
Have you found anything under military for Charles ?

I had emailed the British India Library and the MMN was not mentioned unfortunately.

No Military that I could see but there was a mention of the great peninsula railway from a family member.

Would be handy to know a definate birth year..........he is a brick wall at the moment :-\

Someone did say c1883 but I'm sure that is just an educated guess.
Winifred i.e. Annie Dolly has a birth date as either 16th or 18th October 1906 according to 1939 census on Ancestry as well as her death certificate. Still no birth for her though.
