Hi
Looking for a Hannah Machin or Meacham born in Staffordshire (place of birth given as Birmingham/West Bromwich), around 1850.
She married firstly in 1867 (Walsall RD) to a William Butler, and a child, William, was born that same year.
She had been widowed by 1869, as she then married Thomas Wilkinson in South Shields on the 24th January 1869 (date taken from South Tyneside registrars website).
Thomas had been born in South Shields in 1846.
The couple cannot be traced on the 1871 census, but a son, Thomas, was born around 1871, Mary Ann, was born during the June quarter of 1874, and John, was born on the 1st July 1876.
The 1881 census finds the family living in Waterloo Vale, South Shields, where Thomas was employed as a ‘stoker.’
Stepson, William, had been given the surname of Wilkinson, and he was employed as a gas fitter.
The family can be traced quite easily from there until there deaths - but who was Hannah??
I cannot find any positive trace of her prior to her first marriage.
Can anybody help?

A copy of either of the marriage certs could show her fathers name
Freebmd has 3 Hannah Machin births in Staffs 1849-1851 and a Hannah Meacham in 1849
Might be worth using GRO online to check for mmn
