That is him, a personal item has been recovered near the crash site and the finder would like to return it to the family

Again Thanks, I had checked GRO with White mother Cooper, 1909-14 but nothing came up other than John. Alma z shows as Cooper for mother's MN so a sister without doubt.
-
There is a birth Dickens - White - Edmonton 1944 -3a 968 - but nothing to say she belongs to this couple :-\
Sandra
-
Don't see any death date in the UK for Alma with that birth date :-\
Sandra
-
I can't see a death for Alma Zillah Dickens, however there is a death for Alma Zillah Hill in 2003 in West Berkshire 56E 919/1 - her date of birth on the death record is 11.01.1910 - the same date as is noted on the 1939.
Marriage St Albans 4b 439
Alma Z Dickens to Ronald D Hill, Q1 1954
As Sandra has found the death of Peter Dickens in 1978, maybe the other comment and date on the 1939 refers to a later divorce from Peter Dickens? I have checked the National Archives site for divorce cases but there is nothing (very few case files survive after 1937 according TNA)

Doesn't look as if there are any children that are positively identified - suppose Alma was 44 years by the time she remarried in 1954
Sandra

I knew it wouldn't be long before you found that Sandra, you are always very efficient with your research ;D

Also a 1946 one

What date do you think is written on the 1939 for Alma and Peter ? 1940 or 1949 ?

What date do you think is written on the 1939 for Alma and Peter ? 1940 or 1949 ?
Sandra
I was just puzzling over that one and I am favouring 1949. The code DEF before the date is the District code used on the 1939 for Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
-
Yes, I would go with 1949 - wonder what the significance of those hyphenated surnames are - the "H" part is slightly different ?
Sandra
-
Parents of Peter Charles Dickens - Charles Henry Dickens
born 7 December 1872 - Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales passed away 18 May 1952 - St. Brides, 5 Burgh Road, Aylsham, Norfolk.
Mother - May Agnes Thomsett
born 12 May 1876 - Curragh Bridge, Limerick, Ireland passed away 28 March 1920 - Steyning, Sussex.
Source - Anc Tree with photographs of them. Don't see any links to the "H" hyphenated surname though.
Tree indicates they had a son ???
Sandra
-
There is a marriage in June 1954 for a Peter C Dickens - to a Smeed - Middlesex S. - 5f 141
but that would take us away from the White family line.

Where are you seeing the hyphenated surnames Sandra? I'm not sure what you mean :)

Sandra
I have not seen the Scotland birth myself, but I have no reason to dismiss it.
The birth I found was under the name White, but I think I was clutching at straws with that one as I couldn't see a logical alternative in England ::)
-
There is a Compnaies House entry for the grand-son - details sent.
Sandra

Info on the son - including an address - sent by pm
