Title: Stanislaw Golba - Death Query POLAND/UKRAINE
Post by: kjmck on Thursday 24 January 19 15:53 GMT (UK)
Hi Everyone,

My great grandfather was the above, Stanislaw Golba. He died between 1925 and 1930 in Czortkow. Czortkow was at the time in Poland, but is now part of the Ukraine. Does anyone have any idea as to where I should look for his death certificate?

Thanks,

Keelan

Hi Dave,

Thanks for replying. I don't think that my family were Jewish, would that make a difference with finding information on these websites?

To be honest I don't know how I would even find out if my family were Jewish, apart from word of mouth.

The Golba family were from the village of Piasek Wielki in Swietokrzyskie. Stanislaw purchased land in Czortkow and for some reason relocated the family, and my grandfather was born there in 1922 (died 2015). I have only been able to do a small amount of research as I am not in Poland, but have discovered the names Golba, Szlufcik, Jasiak and Walasek connected to my family directly.

I have seen that thread before yes, my cousin posted on there but I don't believe he has done any research since.

My grandfather lost his birth certificate during the war, so unfortunately we have never known where he was born exactly. He adamantly denied that they were Jewish though, yet I did see the surname Golba in the books of prisoners at Auschwitz.
