Title: 1861 census-E&W Shipping-Falmouth
Post by: jcmac on Saturday 26 January 19 23:22 GMT (UK)
Freecen has details of a ship Europe (Jersey) 43 ton coastal smack at the port of Falmouth.
The surname I used for crew member was McFadyen aged 30.

I have tried to locate the Census entry for this ship in FmyP either as Europe or Europa but cannot get the slightest sniff of a ship of either name.
Is anyone able to suggest where I might be going wrong !?

Daniel McFadyen b Tyree Argyll - is this who you are researching?  Able seaman unmarried

Thank you Carol,
That is the seaman I used.
However, I cannot identify this ship and no matter what detail I tried in FmyP - the best I could get was 5 names none of which included McFadyen.
I have come across the odd misspelt ship names on transcription but am frustrated at my inability to match McFadyen to a ship Europe (or whatever ?)
