Dear All,
I am trying to find the marriage of Joseph Cheshire and his wife Ann, which I think occurred in Dunstable, possibly in a non-conformist church, perhaps about 1830. I have their daughter Ann's birth certificate from 1838 and I know they also had a daughter Jane, b. abt. 1834, and Sarah b. abt. 1832.
Although the certificate gives the mother Ann's maiden name, I cannot read it (very frustrating), however I think it begins with a J or a T, probably has 6 letters and may have an h or a p in the middle. (Sounds like a word game or crossword clue, I know!)

Any help anyone can give will be gratefully received, either from someone else who has this family and can share the information or from someone who can find it in the records. I've tried Ancestry and IGI and cannot seem to find it - either I can't see for looking or there's something unusual about the way the event is recorded.
Thanks in advance,
Bryant.

is it worth your posting a clip from the birth certificate with the former surname to see if anyone recognises it.

Non conformist baptisms for Sarah daughter of Joseph & Ann names Anns father as Thomas Impey
He is also named as Thomas Impey on Jane & Alfreds baptism
-
On FamilySearch there's a baptism of Ann Impey at Dunstable on 28 Apr 1813, daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Impey

In 1830 unless you were Jewish or a Quaker you had to marry in the Church of England. It wasn't until 1837 that marriages in non-conformist churches was permitted.

How about TUNPEY?

PS, this was taken from ONS searching for MMN

I live in Dunstable and have come across people with surnames Cheshire and Impey but never a Tunpey.
I've checked the phone book and Cheshire and Impey are there but again no Tunpey.
