Hello, I am new to this site.
I have traced great grandparents, I have their death certificates.
I would love to know when they moved to the UK and why. I think they came over to the UK around war times from Germany, its so intriguing, why? I can't find any record under their names, other than the death certificates which were in Scotland. Any help greatly received.
Thanks!

There aren't passenger lists for people arriving from Europe.
What war? WWI? WWII? other?
Any children born in U.K.?
If you give us an idea of names and dates we might be able to help further.
-
Not that I can find under the names on the death certificate, but this is new to me.
Sure, Heinrich August Wilhelm Dwenger born 1910 and Frieda Martha Emma Dwenger (Laake) born 1914. I don't think the children were born in UK.
WW2 Im assuming.
Thank you

Hi,
I found a marriage reference for a Heinrich August Wilhelm Dwenger in Hamburg in 1932:

Best regards,
Karen

Matching ref is for a HAMMANN Anna Sophie Luise :)

You won’t be able to name them as born too recently, but what years were Heinrich’s children born?
Is one the 1947 marriage in Devon?
-
That is great, married in Hamburg 1932.

Thank you Karen, that is amazing.

I only know of one child, not sure where or when born. I couldn't find any record of uk birth, but I am a novice.

What does this mean, please?
Thank you all for your help, I'm so pleased. :)

If you read through the names on that link Karen posted the person with the Same reference numbers as Heinrich is Anna. There is no one named LASKE on that list.
It’s a list of marriages so it stands to reason there has to be a Bride as well as a Groom.
Possibilities to think about, someone else May be able to think of more
1. It may be a completely different Heinrich
2. It may be your Heinrich and a previous marriage.
3 if 2, then did Anna die,
or 4. did he desert her?
5. Anna changed her name

Means that the bride for that marriage is Ana Sophie Luise Hammann.
If they weren't married in U.K. and children weren't born in U.K. there might not be many official records except death certificates and naturalisation records (if they did become British citizens). Since you know when and where the parents died then you could try to find church records, cemetery/burial records, newspaper articles, etc.

SP has the following deaths:
Heinrich August Dwenger, 65, Dingwall, 1975
Freida Martha E Dwenger (MMN Pagel), 91, Dingwall, 2006 . Also cross ref as Laake
No mention of an Anna.

Cant be the same Heinrich then.
Thanks all for your help :)

Why not?
He would not be the first nor the last man to marry one woman and then take up with another that couple presenting all the appearances. Of a “normal” married couple. I am sure everyone on here has at least one example.
You would have to find a way of tracking down Anna to see what happened to her. If she’s gaily living with Heinrich then he isn’t yours. It’s going to be difficult. wW2 :(
