I apologize in advance for the long post, but I am just trying to give all the info I can!
Marius Rasmussen was born 6/6 1869 in Svenborg per the 1901 and 1930 census, where he is definitely the person I am interested in.
For reference:
Marius 1930 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLH-2SZX-V?i=223&cc=2800932
Marius 1901 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLC-QSM1-X?i=1318&cc=2800929
In the search for his parents, I believe they are Hans Jorgen Rasmussen and Rasmine Jensen, based on the 1880 census, and his birth/baptism record, but their are some oddities that have come up. I cannot read Danish, so I am hoping there is some clue on the forms. I realize I am asking a lot here, but I have worn out Google translate trying to figure this out!
As I cannot post the full images, I will post the links to the images on Family Search, followed by what is confusing me, in the hopes someone can lend a hand! I may very well be mixing up Marius with another one.
For reference, the 1880 census for Hans Jorgen Rasmussen, with wife and Marius/siblings is here:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS21-T3TX-Y?i=582&cc=2778657
The Hans in question is person 59 (as there are two on the page).
The birth/baptism record for Marius states his birthday as 06 July, instead of 06 June, BUT his baptism date is in June, and his mother's age is given as 29 (she should be 19). So is this just clerical error? Or totally wrong parents? If I read it right, the parents are not married.

I next looked up other children in the family, and although the mother's age is slightly wrong, it is very close to what it should be. I am hoping that there is some hint as to why the parents did not marry until after they had a few children.
Rasmine Johan Rasmussen born 20 Aug 1871,parents unmarried, mother 22

Anne Dorothea Rasmussen born 01 Apr 1873 with twin? Jensine that died?, parents unmarried, mothers age 22, and I am unsure of the word written in front of the father's name.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-89ZX-96ZX?i=398
Jens Rasmussen 18 Oct 1875 Mother age 26 Parents appear to be married now.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9ZX-96QT?i=320
Johanne Marie Elisabeth, parents married, mother age 28
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9ZX-9DX6?i=413
Hans Peder Erik mother age 30
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9ZX-CSGL?i=6
In summary, do I have the right Marius birth/baptism, and is there any hint of why the marriage was delayed? With the birth of Anne Dorothea: is she a twin, and what is written in front of Hans Jorgen's name?
In the remarks section, is there anything of value?

Have a look at Danish Family Search.
There might be a bit more info for you

She is a twin and the word in front of Jörgen's name is "Daglejer" - day worker.
I can't make out the notes but I see "dead" and "church".

Thank you so much for that! I was so close to dismissing Marius with the July birthday and the 29 year mother, but everything else matched so well. Your image nails it down as the right person. I am so very grateful for both images.
Do you know if it was common back then for people to be a bit behind to get married when children were born, or is this a sign that perhaps one of them was previously married, so not able to remarry until divorce? Marius was 6 yrs older than Rasmine, so the thought crossed my mind. (I've run into that in British lines a lot)

Cheers.
This looks to be Hans Jörgen Rasmussen's birth record - Vester Aaby Parish:

Here is their marriage record from 1871 in Stenstrup Parish - nr 9:

I have no answer to your questions about the timing of their marriage and there is nothing recorded either.

Although I can add that they were both single before their marriage.

Now that you have shown me their marriage, it looks like they married just after the first child, but were still registered as unmarried for the next. Perhaps they just couldn't show proof of marriage.
This has been so much help!
On the birth for Hans Jorgen, I can make out his father's name as Rasmus Jensen, and his mother's name is Johanna Maria ??? Hansen? (Maybe I need new glasses....)

Johanna Marie Hansdatter

Here is Hans Jörgen and family in 1850 census in Brahetrolleborg Parish in Svendborg - at bottom:

re Anne Dorothea Rasmussen born 01 Apr 1873 and twin Jensine that died, both were baptised at home on the day they were born so it's likely that neither was expected to survive. Anne Dorothea was later baptised in church.

Thank you both! I really should have taken a course in both Danish and reading old handwriting before diving into this. Thankfully, Rootschat is full of wonderful people like you.
