Title: mixed up Bura or Buria / Hackett Leicester to Canada
Post by: Xinia :) on Wednesday 06 February 19 20:07 GMT (UK)
I have a few bits regarding
Florence May Joan Patrick
born 1909 Leicester
married to
Alfred Hackett 1928
he dies 1944

she marries again the same day as her daughter and moves to Canada
2nd marriage is
1949 to an Alexander Bura / Buria etc.
her daughter Renee marries a Mr John McKie the same day
these marriages take place in LEICESTER.

she is shown as arriving in Canada in 1959 and going to Ontario...??

and I have her in the voters list of same place in 1958

I would like to find more on her 2nd husband ///// and her SON

did her son go to Canada
and did her daughter go with her?

anything else would be good.

but her sons disappearance solved would be great.

(She (Florence)  is on the 1939  showing a 12 year old son M*******.. so he surely must be deceased????  I cannot find him anywhere after that.)

thanks in anticipation

Perhaps a long shot but the surname seems unusual and might be worth further investigation  - There is this Bura famiy in Toronto - perhaps we can find more to see if they were related to Alexander Bura born 1916 :-\

This would be the father - Nikita Bura 1896 Velykyi, Oleksyn, Ukraine  passed away 1985 Toronto Ontario.
Might have been a brother Nicholas Bura born in Ukraine 1923.  Also a  Paul Bura born 1925 Ukraine.

There was a   U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims entry for Nikita Bura with a wife Olga Nowak  - child Paul Bura.

Sandra

Added - Divorced Oksana Kasanchuk in Ukraine. Married Olga Nowak. He did not marry Alex's mother. (according to anc tree)

The obituary for Nicholas Bura doesn't hep identify Alexander.

The Ottawa Citizen  (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) 25 Apr 2015, Sat  -  Page 40

https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28126003/nicholas_bura/

There was a UK Return Passenger List with wife Bertha and those 3 children menitoned  going to 66 Ennismore gardens London - (Nicholas was in the RCAF at this time but his entry was  crossed
thru) Montreal - Southampton on the SS Ivernia arriving 8 September 1923 -

Sandra

added - Bura, Bertha (Mundier), no dates, Beloved Wife (w/o Nicholas Bura), [MB]
Bura, Nicholas, no dates, Royal Canadian Air Force CD 205328 S/L Per Ardua AD Astra, [MB]

buried in the Ukraine..

now the amount of travelling that Flo Jo did  is worrying.. ooooo and Maurices disappearance.. uhm whats the name of a good ~Spy film~

ha ha ..

I have attempted to look at all angles and a Florence Hackett from Leicester of a similar age and area seemed to be A Salvationist in the Salvation Army

and then I note on one of the Obits all donations to the Salvation Army!?

maybe stretching the search a little far...

but interesting all the same..

'just call me JAMES :) :) '   Florence is my direct line... but I will still go through my DNA thingy even though I cannot fathom it very well.. see if I have Hacketts

thanks for all Help with this family absolutely brilliant.

4 times>???

ok

the family were a match and mingle family   believe me.. it has been so complicated

I havent got 4 for her have I...

I only have two marriages for her

Alfred Hacket

and Alex... oh dear I have to read your info again... and again  this head may have missed something.. BIG letters needed and flashing lights..

she has a not to distant relation that marries 3 or 4 times to two members of one family one divorce and one death and oh   dear me....

they are a very large family and a good family mostly but intermingle and match ...  small village roots.. maybe thats what it is..

xin..

living with her Uncle Sid and co  in 1939

SANDRA

I am so sorry to mix us both up with my 'quips'   I have a silly sense of 'fun'  for give me .. and the 4 marriages was just a ... xin thing..

so no only two please please please..

I am putting the salvationist discovery to one side... as I think it is a bit too much of a coincidence and no doubt I will find a. n. other Florence of similar age in Leicester for that role.

ok..

the only thing is her death and what happened to Maurice... which  is strange not to find.. he is SHOWING in the 1939 and so surely that means he is dead   and I get it now that is the name you wanted me to check in the 1939.. I need to pause :)

take it all in and close this one I think..

for now at least.

The purple writing to the left BEA (PEA) M ? and maybe something written above that is indistinguishable ?
Suggests she could have married again.
Don't know what the red reference to Maurice (right hand column) 8 6 51 ? could be medical info ?

This has been a really fascinating thread to follow.

I believe the purple lettering to the left of Florence's entry would be related to her marriage to Alex. If I'm remembering correctly, M should stand for marriage, BEA for location, and buried above this s/b the date.

The red lettering connected to Maurice should also be decipherable. I seem to remember that there was a thread with info about these things a while back.

Polarbear - Ive just had another look and others on the same page have that same reference in that column  ??? Perhaps the name of the person doing alterations  ??? Im mystified.  ???

BEA   Middlesex   Enfield but the marriage was Leicester  ??? Aaaah not BEA - should be REA for Leicester  ;) So no second marriage.

cos I decided I would put Flo on one side for a while and attack her sibs..

I should NOT  have

because the next in line bless her doesn't survive.

but then Eileen Emily marries twice and her 2nd husband is Smith..

oh dear..

xin

and the 1939 for Eileen did show her 2nd marriage in 1971 in small blue writing..

Typo alert...missed that it is not BEA (foggy glasses?) next to Florence's entry but suspect it perhaps s/b REA which is the 1939 code for Leicester.

Codes at this link.....

Relying on RK to try and find an obituary for Joan in Toronto area 1990's ................then its just Maurice who is the mystery.  Would be blacked out on the 1939 if he was alive, so the connotation on the right in red might explain the mystery of Maurice if soneone can decipher it.

I will pop an ask on main queries page for 1939 transcription

NR27/31/M   and with 8.6.51.  (which could be date of death?)

but then what looks like 2012

Ref C120

maybe he is in Prison or something awful..

I am thinking... NR national register   his age 27 to 31 M  - male  dies 8.6.51.... but just guesssessss.. and as you know by now.. my head is strange..

Sadly we haven't found an obituary for Joan who passed away (probably 1990's) a short time before Alex. In reply 60 I speculate that the red markings next to the name of Maurice in 1951 may have been NHS references, so I strongly think that was the case and something may have happened to Maurice in 1951.  Apparently there are lots of references on the 1939 records that we might never know what they refer to.

Received a lovely message from Canada with background info on the Bura family which I will pass to Xinia.  Would like to take the opportunity to thank the lady in Canada for the time she has spent trying to help us out on this one.  Thanks also to RK for the help with obituaries etc.,

I'm sure if anyone finds anything else on Joan or Maurice it will be added here at some stage but for now we have drawn a blank.
