The above was the son of Owen J Hughes 1848-1929 and Elizabeth or Bessie W Weymark 1846-1928 and he had 7 siblings, all of whom I've found records for but Dewitt's bmds' I've been unable to find. There is another guy called Thomas Dewitt Hughes born 8 Feb 1876 but to different parents according to Anc.

According to the obituary for Owen J Hughes - two of his children died in infancy, and one daughter Mrs S R Cray and one son Dewitt.

The article says Gene was buried in San Francisco - yet find a grave show this find a grave entry quotes a gene E Hughes with a birth year of 1878 passed in 1930 but buried Pleasant Hill Cemetery

Thank you Sandra for your once again splendid research. Is it possible to find out when Dewey passed away and what were George Stone's b and d's were? George m Helen in 1946.
As to Gene, I'd thought he was buried in Iowa and who was his wife-he must have married late in life?

Many of the Hughes family are listed on the USGenWeb Archives for Pleasant HIll Cemetery in Lime Springs, Howard, Iowa (even Benjamin in 1882) but nothing for Dewey or Dewitt or even Mary Waymark Hughes :-\
