The only piece of the puzzle missing is theb1911 census.  Tried Isle of Man census but no luck, .Where was she in 1911 ?    Any help greatly. appreciated.   Regards Tineke

I had seen but not sure it is her .   She always put  her  name as Anne Jane or Anne J.  She came from Malew in the Isle of Man which is at the oposite end to Peel. So not dismissing it altogether but doubtful.  Thanks

Where do you have your Anne in 1901.  Have you tried to find the Anna mentioned by hol in earlier census.

Hello
I can't find the 1911 Anna(signature says Ann).on earlier census .using name and Isle of Man birthplace brings up What looks like the same person from 1871 to 1911.
Don't know Isle of Man but Peel and Douglas both look a long way from Malew, although parish area covered looks quite large.

BIB - I really do not understand this. The 1911 census is on familysearch.org. It is free to use and there are no restrictions on looking up things there and giving them to others. Therefore how can rootschat stop people looking things up on familysearch and passing on the information to others. I know this question has been asked before but a satisfactory answer has never been given that I am aware. Of course I may have missed it and if so could someone direct me to it please.

The Anne Jane who married William Caley was the daughter of Robert & Margaret which is why I asked the question in my reply#11 as there are 2 Anne Janes both born Malew on th 1861 census with different parents.

Rootschat do not stop us from posting the links to 1911 on familysearch, I do it often and so do others on here.

Thank you for your reply. In that case I really do not understand the initial point you made. Still that's fine I think you have just confirmed we can do 1911 census lookups which was the point I queried.

We are allowed to post links from familysearch because it is a free site.  The reason we are not allowed to post full details from the 1911 and 1939 is because they are only available through pay per view sites.  It is after all up to the founders of rootschat as to what information they allow us to post.

BIB - I totally disagree with that. We can post full details from the 1911 census as they appear on familysearch, it is a free site with the intention of making information available freely. Things have moved on from when the 1911 census was first released and trying to impose conditions that pertained back then is wrong.

I would be interested to see what the site owners here say on that. (That should see me banned again  ::))

I did not say we could not transcribe the 1911 from the familysearch entry but as it is a free site why should I spend time transcribing it when I can post a link.

What you actually said was

You do realise that we are not allowed to ask for 1911 look ups.

So how do you post links to something you are not allowed to look up.  ???

Don't worry that was rhetorical.
