The Massachusetts Vital Records are available at familysearch.org, I think. Maybe the parents' deaths are listed there. Or have you looked already?

If the parents were in Ireland in 1867, their deaths would be covered by the civil records, 1865ff. Did they go to and stay in England instead of the US? Did they have daughters who may have been there? Otherwise you'd think they'd go where there sons were.
