Title: Richard Coulthard 1924
Post by: Joed99 on Tuesday 26 February 19 11:31 GMT (UK)
Could anyone help me track the following family who emigrated to Canada.

This is from a vague diary entry of William Rowbottom a Cleveland Ironstone Miner.

31st July 1924 Dick Couthard left Boosebeck for Canada.

From English census returns

COULTHARD (corrected spelling) Richard br 1879 Leasingham Durham, Milk Vendor, & his wife Martha Jane (Creaser ) br 1880 Wolds YKS with possibly  a son Robert William br 1911.

Many Thanks

John

Many many thanks to you all for all this marvelous information and your assistance.

The diary was transcribed and printed in The Cleveland Standard dated 1939 which I found a rather yellowed creased copy folded up inside a family bible. I have been researching its content for some years and have nearly traced information for each of entries although an handful will probably still defeat me because of their vagueness.

1939 - Luke and Mary E Hunter are still in Sunderland.  Not sure if I can post details of that either...

Luke appears to have been married before and has a daughter Isabella.
1901 census in Fulwell, Sunderland...Luke is with wife Mary and daughter Isabella.   Isabella is 1, and born in Fulwell.

FreeBMD has a marriage for Luke Hunter to Mary Mitchell in Sunderland in 1896.

GRO has a birth for Isabella Hunter, mothers maiden name Mitchell in Sunderland..registered in Dec quarter 1899.

Mary Mitchell Hunter must have died sometime between 1901 and 1910.

Thank you for the info on Mary E.Coulthard, hopefully a family member will see this post and respond re:Mary.
Ernest Coulthard was my Dad Robert Coulthard's brother and he passed away in 1924, so he didn't make the journey to Canada he is buried in Boosbeck Cemetery.
Only the two boys were in that family.
