Hi there, i would like to please request a look up of a William Dickins from around 1820-1880, he had a son named John William Dickins in Fridaythorpe and i have found some London Gazzette notices for a William Dickins in bankruptcy around the years 1866-1867. Keen to hear anything that might be found.

I would be looking for information about his parents as well as any confirmation if he was married to a Elizabeth Dickins (maiden name unknown), his son John William was born in 1862 in Fridaythorpe and according to marriage records he was witness to his sons marriage in Bradford in 1886
The newpaper notice would place him as having been in Fridaythorpe, Richmond, Northallerton, and Guisbrough, at one stage having been a Police Constable.

From the GRO Indexes site:
DICKINS, JOHN WILLIAM (Mother's Maiden Name:) HALL
GRO Reference: 1863 J Quarter in POCKLINGTON Volume 09D Page 62
So, born in 1863, rather than 1862?
-
William was NOT a witness to John William's marriage - occupation given as Farm Bailiff (JW's occupation is Groom), and no indication whether deceased or not. Anne Elizabeth Dickins was a witness.
-
Anne Elizabeth might have been his sister if 1881 is correct

Anne E 20 Fridaythorpe
