Title: John Thomas Davidson 1922 - 1999

Hi all,
I am trying to research my grandfather John Thomas Davidson. I don't know much about him, he separated from my grandmother (now deceased) way before I was born and mum didn't have contact with him. When he registered her birth he lived in Church Street, Needingworth, Cambridgeshire. I have his death certificate which tells me he was born on 24th March 1922 in Wallsend, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and died 4th May 1999 in Hunstanton, Norfolk. I don't know who his parents were and would love to find anyone else researching this tree who could help!

This looks like the registration of his birth, from Freebmd

Possible younger siblings born 1923, 1926 and 1928.

Have you applied for his marriage certificate, to cross-check on his father's name and occupation?

That marriage looks good, chempat.

He was killed in action 12th Feb 1918. in the UK Commonwealth Graves he is stated as husband of Catherine Davidson (formerly Strathern)

Thomas Richard G. Davidson was born 12/7/1895 (states 1896 on 1939 register) died 1970.
Catherine Davidson, nee Troy, was born 18/6/1887 (states 1889 on 1939 register).

The 'G' in Thomas Richard's name stands for Gilchrist.   His birth was in the Sept.qtr.1895 Belford, Northumberland as Thomas Richard Gilchrist, illegitimate - his mother was Margaret Ann Gilchrist who married James Davidson in Mar.qtr.1898 Belford.   Quite possible that James Davidson was Thomas' natural father.

Catherine Troy was born in Stockton, Durham, dau. of John Troy and Catherine Clark (married 1875 South Shields).
