Hello,
John CRONING was convicted at Plymouth Assizes to 10 years transportation on 11/04/1851, but after spending the best part of 6 years in Parkhurst and Portsmouth Prisons he was released early on 11/03/1857.
On conviction he stated his father was dead and that his mother, Elizabeth COLLING (?), lived in Blarney, County Cork, with his two sisters and a younger brother.
His "Devon" story is a little obscure (he had only lived there 4 or 5 months apparently), as are his future movements after 11/03/1857, but I hope someone may be able to help?
Thank you,
BAC3
