Title: 98 Regiment of Foot - where were they
Post by: Kessa on Monday 11 March 19 03:11 GMT (UK)
Hi
Now that I know my William Holly was in the 98th Regiment from 1804-1818, I'm trying to find out where he was stationed.  I think they were in the Maritimes (New Brunswick) and Bermuda from 1805 and then arrived in Halifax late in 1813 and were part of the Maine campaign (1812 War) from July 1814 - Apr 1815.  The Regiment actually occupied Eastport in Maine until June 1818.  After the 1812 War they served in the Atlantic region of Canada from 1814-1818 (renumbered to the 97th Regiment in 1816).

Could anyone tell me if the above is correct?  I've taken bits from various websites and put it together as I can't find a definitive history of the Regiment online.

Many thanks
Kerrie
