Hi All,
I seem to have lost Emma, born Upper Norwood 1849, last seen in Hackney 1861. Did she die, did she marry, did she emigrate?
I provide a bit of extra information below about her extended family.
1813 John Ettridge married Lydia Thurgood, Much Hadham Herts
1817 Sarah Ettridge daughter of John & Lydia baptised, Little Hadham Herts
1840 Sarah Ettridge daughter of Sarah Ettridge baptised, Little Hadham Herts
1841 John, Lydia and grand-daughter Sarah at Ash St, Little Hadham
Sarah not located but probably working as a servant somewhere in London
1842 John dies, Little Hadham
1849 Emma Ettridge daughter of Sarah Ettridge baptised, Upper Norwood Surrey
1851 Lydia and grand-daughter Sarah still at Ash St, Little Hadham
Sarah cook for the Smith’s at Bridge Road, Hackney
Emma with John’s brother William and wife Letitia at Bury Green, Little Hadham
1851 Sarah Ettridge married Stephen Wickenden, Edmonton Middlesex
1857 Lydia dies, Little Hadham
1861 Sarah and Stephen Wickenden at High Hill Ferry, Hackney
Sarah and Emma Ettridge also here with their mother but shown as nieces
1867 Sarah Ettridge married James Farey, Homerton London and have been traced forward
1871 Sarah and Stephen Wickenden at Avely Road, Hackney and have been traced forward
I have used the Ettridge spelling to make it easier to read but feel free to use your imagination when looking them up. I usually search using E*dge.
As always, any help is greatfully received.
Cheers, Mirl.

Just discovered an Emma Ettridge servant arriving in New York 3 May 1872 from Liverpool aboard "Great Western".
Wonder if anyone can find out if this is my Emma?
-
Have you checked the 1871 for that name to see if there were others with her profile?
Is she on the USA/English 1880/81

Age is out but there is an Emma Ettridge death in Islington 1870 - aged 29??
-
I have looked and looked at every UK census with no luck.
If this is her going to America then she isn't on 1880 wih her maiden name, so either died, married, moved elsewhere, or not listed.
The death registered in Islington could be the one in the English Non-Conformist records for 23 Sep 1870 at the small pox hospital Highgate but the age there is a clearly written 31. Not confident but will hold for further reference.

There is an Emma Etheridge marrying William Nichols Q2 1872 , Pancras, London. They are in the 1881 census with 3 children, Emma's dob given at 1849 at Brentwood, living in West Ham.

Sorry, not the right pairing from that BMD reference.
Parish register confirms William Nichols married Annie Derrick and Samuel Ellis married Emma Etteridge. This Emma was a minor in 1872 so birth date later should be than 1851; 1881 census says aged 27 or 1854 birth date born St Pancras - not my Emma.
