I'm seeking to verify some information which I believe can be found in G. D. Burtchaell's 'Knights Dubbed in Ireland'. The author was born in 1853 and died in 1921.
Can anyone tell me what is listed for Sir Thomas Armstrong born about 1603 and died on 24th Nov 1662?
I have only managed to find a basic reference to his being knighted in 1643, but gather his father is mentioned in some versions of Burtchaell's work. The reference to his father is of particular interest to me and I'm keen to see what is written.
Any ideas & links?
Cheers,
Bob

e.g.
Pedigree of Armstrong of Ballyard in Kings Co., 1612 - c. 1720.
Pedigree of Armstrong of Ballylin, of Castle Armstrong, Kings Co., of Rathmacknee, Co. Wexford, 1658 - 1857.
Pedigree of Armstrong of Farney Castle and Mount Heaton, Co. Tipperary,
Pedigree of Armstrong of Mangerton in Scotland, of Longfield in Co. Cavan, of Gillan, Ballycumber, and Endrim in Kings Co., of City of Dublin, and of Mount Armstrong,
Pedigree of Armstrong of Farney Castle and Mount Heaton, later Armstrong Mac Donnell of New Hall, Co. Clare, c.1640 - c.1862.
etc etc...

Mount Heaton & Farney Castle line, Hallmark. I have masses of info via the various pedigrees, so just need someone to eyeball the work I mentioned in the first post. I have seen all the entries in Burke's etc.
For some reason I can't get access to 'State Papers Domestic' (Interregnum) Volume 203 f49 dated 30th June 1659 which mentions the chap concerned. However, I don't think it mentions his father.
I think Burtchaell's work is in a MSS held in Ulster.
Many thanks,
Bob

"Armstrong, Col. Sir Thomas (1603?-62), kt. Perhaps the son of William Armstrong (1565-1649) of Gilnockie and his wife Margaret, daughter of Humphrey Elliot, born about 1603."
and
"knighted in Ireland by the Duke of Ormonde, 1644"

William Armstrong (1565-1649) of Gilnockie, Dunfriesshire, Scotland.
