I am going to ask a really silly question,
but how do I find a death in Jersey.
sue ault ??? :)
-
For what period
-
If you want to provide a name I can probably find it for you. C of E burials up to 1940 are on line at Ancestry, other denominations can be found in the indexes on the Jersey Archive site but you would need a subscription to see them.

See page 90 on this link re fundraising for the RNLI in 1971 LINK (https://rnliarchive.blob.core.windows.net/media/1425/0435.pdf)
referring to the work of the head barman at the Pomme d'Or Hotel in St. Helier, Channel Islands named George Harrington
-
George died on 26 Feb 1999 aged 78. His occupation was given as 'retired barman' so it seems to be the right man. As mentioned above he was an active fund raiser for the RNLI and there are some photographs of him receiving an award in 1976 on the Jersey Archive site.
Jersey certificates can only be obtained from the Superintendent Registrars office in St Helier but at £30 plus postage a time I really wouldn't bother.

yes your right that is rather a lot of money
again thank you

Hi all,
So George died in Jersey and I am thinking he no doubt was buried there. Can I ask please if there is more than 1 cemetery on the island?
