I'm looking for any further info on the mother of the following person if anybody can help?
Fanny Eyrl - born 1860 in Thrussington, Leicestersire.
married Henry Chamberlain born 1857 and had 5 children with him.
i have found her father i think - William Eyrl born 1843 in Thrussington
But i can't find any link to her mother at all (other than a hint her mother was possibly called Lucy but that could be wrong)
Thanks
Craig

Did you get her fathers name as William from her marriage certificate. What was his occupation
-
i am now doubting her fathers name as i can't find any concrete link, i think I'm guessing at William being the father through some kind of wrong doing in the family..
-
Could this be her birth registration
EYRL, FANNY (no mothers maiden surname)
GRO Reference: 1860 March Quarter in BARROW UPON SOAR Volume 07A Page 136
-
Marriage image is on FindMyPast - she is stated as Illegitimate, no fathers name given. Witness Thomas Eyrl
ADDED 1871 she is grandaughter of Thomas & Lucy Eyrl
RG10/3262 f62 p8

yes and 1881 she still lives with her grandparents. i seem to think there was a brother/sister coming together and she was the resulting child

Why would you think that ::)
If you purchase the birth certificate you will see who the mother is.
-
clutching at straws really and the only assumption that i can come up with
-
Thrussington parish register images are online and there is no evidence of a baptism for Fanny. It seems the only way is the birth certificate. Sometimes there are bastardy orders but you are lucky to find those.
-
i might have to do just that as information is very limited on her

I see no reason to leap to the conclusion that Fanny was the product of an incestuous relationship. It’s not imposssible, of course, but straightforward illegitimacy was pretty common.
Anyhow, looking at the 1851 census, the Eyrl family included the following:
Thomas, head, age 38, ag lab
Lucy, wife, age 32
Elizabeth, daughter, age 10
William, son, age 7
Lucy, daughter, age 4
Tom, son, age 2
There is the marriage of an Elizabeth Eyrl in Barrow in 1858; if it weren’t for this I would assume that Elizabeth was probably Fanny’s mother. Interestingly another child called Fanny Eyrl was born and died in Barrow in 1856-1858, and it’s such an odd name I’d be surprised if they weren’t connected.
Edited to add : Fanny b 1856 seems to have been Thomas and Lucy’s child. They had other older children too; Mary, b 1836, was unmarried and working as a servant in 1861; another possible candidate for Fanny’s mum?

The hint about Lucy might be correct, although she would only have been 13-14 at the time. In 1861, she and brother Tom were at home, with Fanny described as 'daughter in law'. In 1868 she married George William Naylor and lived in Preston, Rutland, until her death in 1925.
Perhaps the reason of no baptism was the age of Lucy?
Mary, the other possibility, was buried in Thrussington on 20th August 1861.
Only guessing and, as pointed out, the birth certificate should answer the question.

There was another daughter of Thomas & Lucy - Ann baptised 21 May 1835.
It looks as though she married when she was 17 - 12 Apr 1852 to Ward Norwell
Ward Norwell has his children with him in 1861 but no wife though he says he was married. Again in 1871 he is married but no wife there.
There was an Ann Eyrl of Thrussington who married in Melborne Australia (Stamford Mercury 29 November 1861) apparently the marriage was 4th May 1861 - she married C W Leggett.
Was she Thomas's daughter - Maybe she was Fanny's mother. (There was also another Ann Eyrl who was baptised the year befor Thomas's Ann, the illegitimate daughter of Martha but she died in infancy.)
If you get the certificate please let us know who did give birth to Fanny.

without looking at all the online registers again, I remember that last night I saw another Eyrl baptism in the mid 1860s, an illegitimate child with Lucy as mother.
-
It was in 1865 - Mary Ann daughter of Lucy. By that time Thomas & Lucy's dtr Lucy would have been 18

Hi
There are a few burials for Thrussington on NBI
Lucy daughter of Thomas & Lucy burial 26 Oct 1842 infant
Frances daughter of Thomas & Lucy burial 1 Sept 1851 infant
William son of Martha burial 27 Aug 1842 infant
Mary Ann daughter of Lucy burial 5 July 1865
Lucy (sen) wife of Thomas burial 13 Nov 1874 aged 56yrs so born about 1818.
So that leaves Mary b 1836, Ann born 1835 or Elizabeth born 1840.

They had another daughter Lucy (mentioned earlier) who was born 1847 who is also a contender though she would only have been 14.

Henry was baptized Thrussington 1838 to Thomas and Lucy
If anyone was wondering what happened to him
