William Hadley Shufflebotham who died 1861 at Newcastle under Lyme, appears to have had three children,
Abel born about 1852 who can be seen in later years as Abel Hadley Shufflebotham can't be seen in the birth registration documents. The same is true for Joseph born about 1856 who appears as Joseph Hadley Shufflebotham in later years.
Eliza the third child was born in 1862 after William's death. Eliza was registered as Eliza Hadley Shufflebotham with Mothers Maiden Name WHITTINGHAM. Mother Mary Shufflebotham remarried a WAINWRIGHT in 1865 and the three children now stepchildren are still Shufflebothams and with the middle initial "H" in the 1871 Census
I would appreciate help in finding William's Roots and why the middle name Hadley.

Brilliant
You have helped me before on other puzzles.
So it looks as if William's widow changed the family name from Shufflebotham Hadley to Hadley Shufflebotham after Williams Death.

PS Not sure yet how to handle the change in my tree, a new puzzle. N
