Hi,
There is a Lyttleton Wood on the 1901 census living with Alfred & Sarah J Wood & family at Old Hill, Rowley Regis.
Lyttleton was born at Old Hill in abt.1892 and I've just discovered that he was not the son of Alfred & Sarah J Wheale (Whale) he was the son of my greatx2 grandfather Ephraim Wood (1862) & Sarah Brookes (1860).
He probably lived with his aunt & uncle after his mother passed away in 1898.
Can anyone find him any later please, in possibly 1911. I keep getting Canada popping up as hints but don't know if he actually ended up there.

1911 lookups are not allowed on Rootschat. Have you tried Family Search as they have many 1911 entries. www.familysearch.org
His birth registration is on freebmd www.freebmd.org.uk
There are 3 births in Dudley for that name 1885 (died 1887) 1892 1901

Ancestry are showing a 1921 census entry for Lyttleton Wood b 1894 England. Wife Ruth Oliver Wood
A tree on Ancestry has him marrying Beatrice James 1916 In Dudley but www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk shows she married James L Wood

Thanks Carole.
I can only find the one birth registered on freebmd and that's the one in 1892. I've searched on GRO and can see that one birth in the March quarter with the mother's maiden name Brookes. I don't see where i'm going wrong with that really. Perhaps a spelling difference!!
I can see another Lyttleton Wood on the 1901 census as a boy inmate at Edgbaston. It could be mine but not sure really.
I can see a marriage for Lyttleton Wood born 1893 at New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada on 25th Feb 1916 to a Ruth Olive Murray. It has his father correct as Ephraim but his mother was Sarah and it has Elizabeth.
I can't see Lyttleton born in 1892/93 on the 1911 census.

Thanks for all help with this.
It seems that Lyttleton the boy inmate at Edgbaston, Birmingham on the 1901 census, was in a children’s home called Middlemore.
He travelled to Liverpool and was adopted by a Mrs Pearson.
I’ve seen the adoption record and it states “mother dead, 5 brothers, 2 sisters” father Ephraim which fits with what I already know.
In 1916 he married Ruth Olive Murray in Nova Scotia.
I can’t find a birth record for Ruth.
If allowed can anyone look on the ancestry public trees and see if anyone has Ruth Murray linked with Lyttleton Wood (1892).
Thanks

There is a tree that has her birth as 7 May 1897 Avondale N S
Father George Evans Murray
Mother Jane Grant
You could check 1901 Census Pictou Nova Scotia
Gabriel E Murray age 33 born England ..farmer
Janie Murray age 33 born N S
Olive R Murray age 3 born NS 7 May 1897
Other family members listed
1911 Census looks like the same family under the name of Evens same district
Might be worth checking out
A tree also has her married to James Lyttleton Wood ???

Thanks Rosie.
So it’s Olive Ruth Murray rather than Ruth Olive.
Yes with that family George could have been mistranscribed as Gabriel.
She married in 1916, so a birth in 1897 fits ok.
Does that tree have a marriage for Olive?
Thanks again.
-
Yes the tree has the same marriage details as you have
You can check the death details for Ruth Wood 1927 New Glasgow Pictou Nova Scotia
Parents names match ..www.familysearch.org

Thanks Rosie. The more I look at it now it looks like fractured scull.
There’s quite a few searchable old newspapers from Nova Scotia but I’m yet to find one that mentions the accident.
I’ll keep looking as it would be interesting to find.
-
Coming somewhat late to this but the report appears to say "Truck in which he was riding struck by a train" and it appears from the comment at the end about the location that this took place on a rail road crossing. I agree about the fractured skull!

Looking at the Middlemore Admission book, Lyttleton Wood was admitted there on 28 September 1900. Birthday shown as July.
Guardian shown as Ephraim Wood
