Title: Rootschat update?
Post by: Kiltpin on Saturday 30 March 19 22:58 GMT (UK)
Hi. Has there been an update to the forum? I notice a change and some parts are missing.

I always signed as Chas - in italics and in Comic sans font. I have always done it that way - I think it looks more like a handwritten sign off. More personal.

I notice that this facility is now missing - no more font changes!

Is this temporary, or permanent?

Regards

Chas

The option to change font isn't there now.  Kiltpin's signature is definitely not what it was :(

Just noticed we can no longer change the text size either.  Let's start a petition :D

Definitely no 'Size' or 'Font', I wonder if 'Glow' and 'Shadow' have taken their place by some fluke.

It is not just on windows, it is the same on Safari on the iPad, no font changes.

I suppose if doesn't change back to normal we could always type what we want to say on a Word document and then copy and paste.  ::)

I’m not sure about that, Lizzie

I've just typed in Word, below, and it's come out as shown above.

Perhaps the cyberspace auditors schemed to snaffle the font for some kind of April Fools Day trickery....

Why is there a big gap on the first post on each page?    It looks as though a second post is missing (but it isn't).

please note that I have already posted to say that there has been no updates from our side.

Sarah - I remember you said you hadn't done updates, but something has happened.  The icons look like Gadget posted on 31 March and we definitely can't change the fonts or the size of the fonts like we used to do.

Silvery - No idea, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.  :)

Do you mean a big gap 'between'  the first and second posts,  if so I get an advert there  :)

There has not been an update to RootsChat, but there have been some tweaks made to disable the font and size functions. I hadn't considered that this was a function that was widely used on the site, unfortunately.  :-\

This tweak was as a result of people (from a place where Green Curry and Red Curry comes from) trying to post spammy topics with links. They were managing to avoid being detected by pretty cunning use of font sizes and colours - so the posts looked essentially fine (but not from the search engines).

So to protect you and use all, we will keep these measures in place for the mean time to assess if this stops. Once we see that it calms down then we can look into trying to put these back on again.

All the best,
Trystan

PS I've locked this topic just so that it doesn't grow arms and legs and so that it doesn't get picked up by the you-know-who persons we are trying to trip up.
