Title: Martha Parker c1785
Post by: emjsw on Wednesday 03 April 19 23:27 BST (UK)
Please could someone help me by looking up the birth of Martha Parker?

In 1808 she married Thomas wain/Wayne in West Hanney. In the 1841/51/61 she gives her pob as West Hanney.

Possible candidates as parents are William and Mary who had other children baptised at around 1785 +/-10 in West Hanney (but no Martha) . The other candidates are John and Mary at Ardington who have a Martha 1784 which is 12 mins by car to West Hanney.

Best wishes
Emma

Very true! 😊
I plot the route via Google and measure in 'car journeys' but forgot to convert. I kind of guesstimate 10 mins/mile walking so a 2hr hike maybe but if they had a horse maybe 1/2 an hour?

Hi Emma,
Using my old copies of "fiche" records I cannot find a Martha Parker in West Hanney. There are some Parmer/Packer but no Martha entries at all.
I did see the marriage in 24-10-1808 but their names are recorded as ;
Thomas Wayn, b  & Martha Packer, sp, with wits; Thomas Smith & Hannah Martin.

Many thanks for finding this, is is quite likely as many of my Dunsdon relatives b in late 1700s and on census records give there pob at West hanney but they were baptised in WANTAGE.
Best wishes Emma
