Title: St Josephs Catholic school Christchurch 1933

I'm looking through a family album and noticed a school photo with my mother Mildred King and her friend Eileen Columbus - anyone tell me where this school was and if there are any records available anywhere please?

Thanks for your replies. I am fairly sure the school was "the junior school" to Sacred Heart Girls College in 1933.

I dont think my mum would have travelled to Papanui from her home.

I think there is a co-ed school on the site in Barbadoes Street now?

Mother was born in 1919.

The main reason I'm enquiring re the school is I have a class photo from 1933 and was thinking maybe others do too and they might have the names on theirs! I am trying to see which are the two persons I am interested in. The photo comes up too dark to add here!

There is a Face Book group named Old Friends New Zealand Schools.  You could add the photo to the site and see if anyone can confirm for you.

TradeMe used to run a thing called Old Friends to which people uploaded old school photographs. They closed it down BUT The National Library have taken it over and are still in the process of indexing.

From where you can navigate to the canterbury schools

This is the page with St Josephs schools - there are a few!.  I haven't looked through to see if your photograph is there, but perhaps you might be lucky. Maybe some other years have been loaded and you can match people from one to the other

Your photo is all girls, the ones I first looked at had both girls and boys.
