Hi. I've been researching for a few years, but really need some help with my Plunkett family. My great grandmother was born 24 Aug 1876 Liverpool to William Plunkett and Catherine Smith/Smyth. She had 7 siblings born Liverpool apart from the eldest, Mary Alice baptised 1865 Bohermeen, Ireland. The others were all baptised as Roman Catholics in Liverpool. William and Catherine were both born Ireland, about 1836 and 1845 respectively. At this point, no marriage found for them in either Ireland or England.
The problem is I can not find any further information on either parents of William and Catherine, other than Catherine's mother was Mary Smith (born abt 1805) and living with them in the 1871 Census. I'm hoping someone can help me find them as I can not find them anywhere in 1891, and I'm hoping that can give me further information.
A son William John did go to USA about 1884, and another son Charles immigrated to Australia. The three remaining living children stayed in Liverpool, Mary Alice married James Kennedy and I've got them in 1891, but I just can not find William, Catherine, Edward (born 1873) and Catherine (1876).
Any help appreciated, thanks :)

Did you locate Edward (b1873) after 1891? (when, where & with whom)?
Any kids in the indexes after 1911 born with MMN PLunkett? (Catherine should still be childbearing age by then). TRack back in GRO if there are!

I have them with Alfred Wilding in 1911. That is Catherine's death. She is buried somewhere in Yew Cemetery.

Thank you, thank you very much. It confirms County Meath, Ireland for me too :) I won't say how many years I've been looking for that record :/
Can you work any other miracles and find their marriage or parents lol..

Catherine Plunkett died 27 March 1912 and was buried at Yew Tree Cemetery on 31 March 1912. Her address looks like 3 St Armand St but not sure I am reading it correctly.

There's an older thread about this Plunkett family.

Thanks Gibel - that's her, and it was St Arnaud Street :)

Thanks Maiden Stone. I found it yesterday and have made contact with the OP. Unfortunately it's not their own line - they were researching it for someone else.

Hiya - I see you are online - is it possible Catherine was previously married to a man named Rooney ?
when her children were born in Liverpool - her maiden name of Smith would have been used - NOT her married name of Rooney - anyway - have a look on this site
http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/liverpoolrcmarriages/marriages.php
1861 952 ST ANNE WILLIAM WILLIAM PLUNKETT CATHERINE CATHERINE ROONEY
which now asks the question - was the ELDEST born in Ireland actually a Rooney / and became a Plunkett after this marriage ....probably a no no - but it is something for you to check out / consider
:)

Hi garstonite. I have seen that suggestion on someone's ancestry site but the eldest, Mary Alice was baptised as a Plunkett and the entry lists both William Plunkett and Catherine Smith as parents. The entry is slightly different to the other entries on the page which list the child with surname and then the parents as a couple. This makes me wonder if William and Catherine were even married when Mary Alice was baptised in Bohermeen, Meath. To date have found no Plunkett-Smith/Smyth marriages in either England or Ireland.

Thanks Garstonite. I have copies of the baptism reg through ancestry/findmypast. Each time the parents names were recorded as Gulielmei and Catherinae Plunkett as they were all RC baptisms. It's the parentage of both William and Catherine I am having troubles with.
