You say you are looking for her grandparents - so where were her parents born as this info is not included in your post?  With surnames like Jones and Davies you need to provide more info

You say you “believe” they are her parents - what proof do you have?  Do you have her on any censuses with them?

Do you have her marriage cert confirming her father was Robert?

Have you looked for her parents marriage and bought a copy of the marriage cert to establish who their respective fathers were?

Have you looked for her parents on censuses prior to their marriage which will give you their respective parents names?

Census info is free on www.familysearch.org and you can use www.freebmd.org.uk to look for her parents marriage

The census has him born in rhuddlan, Flintshire and and her in st Asaph, Flintshire but I can find their births and hence can’t find their parents

As Carole says we need more information on these surnames.  It helps if you give us census references so we can see the family ourselves.

Which census is this? By him, you will mean Robert but is ‘her’ Mary, mother or Mary Ellen, daughter.
I thought I had found the right family but I think mother is Hughes  :-\ it is no use my posting this, as it could be wrong.

Please would you post the details of the census you are referring to - 1881 or 1891?

The Mary you mention is in St Asaph, Denbigh in 1881 Census but is down as born 1873 Flintshire.

FreeREG has a Mass Baptism of some of the children 14 Aug 1881, St Margaret, Bodelwyddan, Flinstshire including;
MAY ELLEN

They Bapt JOHN OWEN Davies 03 Feb 1881. Maybe the Vicar said what about the others ;D

1871 Mary may be a second Wife for Robert;
Robert Davies 37 Carpenter born Rhuddlan, Flintshire
Mary Davies 30 born Llansanffraid, Armenia*
Edward Davies 12
William W Davies 4
Charles Davies   1

DAVIES, CHARLES  HUGHES, Mothers mn HUGHES***
GRO Reference: 1870  M Quarter in ST ASAPH  Volume 11B  Page 375

Obviously more info is required as others have said.

That is the Hughes/Davies family I was looking at -there are several more children in 1881 5529/43/13.
There is a birth for Mary Ellen with mmn Hughes plus others with Jones. :)

I too thought it might be a second marriage.

However birthplaces don’t quite match with those given according to ‘the census’ quoted earlier.

Yes a little confusing 1881 Robert a Wheelwright, 1871 a Carpenter, but entirely possible given my G/G/Grandfather was both of those.

1863 there is a Robert Davies Marriage, Mary Hughes on same page.

Trish, Yes we are finding the same people and events.

It would have helped, peb205, to post the details already known or just think you have with that census you have seen.

Hi again, are you still trying to link Rees Thomas Jenkins who married Mary Ellen Davies to the Frederick Rees b 1915, who died in Solihull 1971 just because he was boarding with the couple in 1939 Birmingham?

Is this a big hint that the Davies family are not really significant in peb’s research  ;)
I will give up then until peb comes back. :)

So if that is the case, what has Frederick Rees got to do with it?

Which census is this information from? It will help to see if we found the right family.

That looks good.

The difficulty is,  peb205, that there is a lack of information from your posts.

The first post gives  Mary Ellen with year of birth and likely parents but from your previous thread, it has now been assumed that it is perhaps this later Mary Ellen.

When information was offered, you just wrote that you were confused and reiterated that you still hadn’t got the grandparents.

If Mary Ellen married, her marriage certificate would show her father’s name which may well help in the search.

You mentioned a census but gave no indication of that despite being asked.

I hope you can see that you do need to give as much information as you know and sometimes have to purchase certificates. I appreciate that it is your friend who have to do this.

Hopefully, keyboard has found the Mary Ellen you are looking for and her parents, your friend’s grandparents,  so you could then go back further.  :)

:) So that we know we are following the correct Jenkins family, it would help if we knew which of the children of Rees Thomas & Mary Ellen Jenkins were the ancestors?

Thomas William Morgan Jenkins was baptised 10th December 1905 Denbigh Father Rees Thomas occ Draper Mother Mary Ellen abode Middle Lane

Annie Gwendoline Jenkins was baptised 6th March 1910 Caergys/Holyhead Father Rees Thomas occ Drapers Assistant Mary Ellen.
Abode 10, Water Street

EDIT Rees Thomas & Mary Ellen also had a daughter Sarah J b 1900/1901 Worcesteshire could be the burial 29th August 1902 Denbigh aged 1 year 5 months abode Rose Villas.( Not certain on this one as a Sarah Jane Jenkins b 1901 Llanyfillin)?

Have you had time to read through this now peb205?
Keyboard has worked hard to help you and it looks good.
You, of course, know later details so does it fit?
